SUMMER READING CHALLENGE
Read (at least) six books during the summer holidays and fill in the record sheet. Don't forget to bring it back in September to claim your reward. Have fun!
Faith at Home: PATIENCE
Patience is one of those qualities that we all need to develop especially when times are tough, when people and governments are frustrating. Patience to wait for the right time, patience with each other and the patience to wait on God when things seem to be taking so long to sort themselves out. The Bible is filled with stories of people like Mary, David, Moses and Noah who had to wait for the right time, for God’s time.
‘…clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience’ (Colossians 3:1)
Use this resource to watch the videos and talk about the pictures with your family. There are also short worship activities to do at home.
English Work for the WB 29/6/2020 and 6/7/2020
The work for the next two weeks is an assessment piece to see how the children at home have been getting on with their writing and what they have remembered from before lockdown.
We will be looking at the myth of Perseus and Medusa and we would like the children to retell this myth.
I have attached below two versions of the myth with comprehension questions to get the children familiar with the myth. It states which version your child needs to do, via their guided reading groups. This activity needs to be completed first. I have also attached a video to support them.
Next, the children need to complete the story mountain template, which will allow them to plan out the story in their own words
Lastly, using the story book template the children need to rewrite the myth. At the end, they can design a front cover and write a blurb.
They will have two weeks to complete these task so there is no need to rush it.
Things to remember when writing the myth:
After your child has completed their retelling of the myth, please could you send it to me in an email.
Take care

Happy VE Day everyone!
I hope you are all in the spirits to celebrate this fantastic day.
Below is a link to a video from the BBC. Please watch this first and have a look at the PowerPoint, then complete the activities.
Dear Parents/ Carers and Year 4 children,
I hope you are all well.
This week I have put a Science - Plants section together on Education City for you to work through. We will be focusing on the functions of different parts of a plant this week.
As you are probably aware, there is a special day this week, VE Day (Victory in Europe Day), which is on May 8th. As a school we are going to be celebrating this by having a themed day on the 7/5/2020. On this day I will upload some special activities for you to complete, some of them we will be doing as a whole school and I would love you to send me some pictures of what you get up to. We would like everyone to create their own Union Jack Flag and put it up in their window, to celebrate and say thank you to all those soldiers, who lost their lives during the war. There will be a letter, to explain the other activities for this day, sent out.
The rest of the work uploaded for this week can be completed up to Wednesday, do not worry if you do not complete it by then.

Dear parents/ carers and Year 4 children,
I hope that your first week of home learning has gone well and that you are enjoying your activities. In the home learning pack there was a two week English unit for a non-chronological report, therefore, you can continue this work for this week. I will be adding some extra Maths work below, following a unit of work on tenths. I will also be adding some creative daily challenges for you to have a go at. Please feel free to send some pictures of what you've been doing.
I hope you are all well. Take care of yourselves and others.

Dear Parents/ Carers.
Included here are a number of activities that your child can be completing if they are at home. Within the home learning pack there is parent guidance to support you. There is a full unit for English where your child will be writing a non-chronological report, following the learning pathway approach that we use in school. Also, within the learning pack there are a number of maths activity sheets, which cover the units that we have been looking at in school and a new unit. There is also work for our topic, Antoni Gaudi and some work for RE.
On this page there is also links to websites that will be useful for the children to use, extra weekly activities and the Year 4 letter with a more detailed guidance for those pupils in self-isolation.
